EVERY PLACE HAS A STORY
We're simply adding our chapter
My husband and I became the guardians of this property in 1995, and to say it needed a little love would be generous.
Hidden beneath it all was something special — an estimated 300-year-old oak tree quietly standing watch over the land.
Over the years, we grew alongside this place, shaped by gardens, experiments, friendships, and more than a few lessons learned along the way.
Growing Up
I grew up on what was less of a ranch and more of a family compound, where my mom and her two sisters each had homes and all of us kids shared the land as our playground. We spent our days building rafts, swimming in the pond, climbing fruit trees, and disappearing for hours on horseback adventures.
We were mostly left to our own devices — no phones, very few rules, and just enough common sense to keep ourselves out of too much trouble. Looking back, I think those years taught me curiosity, resourcefulness, and that some of the best memories come from simple things.
Learning by Trying
I've always had a jump-in-with-both-feet and learn-as-you-go approach to life. I've made plenty of mistakes—from planting thirty zucchini plants to discovering that some plants are a lot like toddlers—they have a tendency to test boundaries and get a little out of control.
I've learned that sometimes things work out beautifully, and sometimes they turn into stories—and boy, do I have some of those.
I still believe curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty are some of the best teachers.
The Oak Tree
Standing quietly on this property is an estimated 300-year-old oak tree that has likely witnessed far more seasons, stories, and people than I can imagine.
Sometimes I sit beneath its branches and wonder who enjoyed its shade long before I arrived, and who will enjoy it long after I'm gone.
There is something humbling about realizing we're only here for a short while. We don't really own places like this—we simply spend a little time caring for them and adding our chapter along the way.
I hope to leave this place a little richer than I found it, with more gardens, more wildlife, more laughter, and more reasons for people to gather beneath its branches.
Welcome
Over the years, this little corner of the world has slowly unfolded — shaped by gardens, experiments, friendships, and plenty of lessons learned along the way.
My hope is that it becomes a space where curiosity is encouraged, skills are shared, and people feel welcome enough to pull up a chair and stay awhile.
I'm glad you're here.
